This is the piece and the pattern that solidified the ideas for the series. The simplicity of only one circle and two straight lines but the division these lines create are striking. Such are some of the events in our lives, for better or for worse.
The monochromatic-ish nature of all the pieces in this series highlights both the simplicity and the complexity of these patterns in life. With the difference of only one colour, one event, one supportive friend, one changed outlook, we can change the whole pattern of an experience. We can choose to see it all as one or to compartmentalise the pieces and keep only what we need going forward or even change the narrative behind what has already occurred.
Whilst the ideas behind the series are at times heavy, serious or symbolically important the Intersections pieces and series as a whole is ultimately one of lightness and hope. A striving for freedom for ourselves and from the stories that have been woven around us.
